Chelsea Siwik, PhD

Dr. Chelsea Siwik graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a BA in Psychology and Spanish. She then went on to earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville where she trained in the Mindfulness and Biobehavioral Research Laboratory and studied the intersection of stress, depression, and cancer and mindfulness-based interventions. Her dissertation project titled, “Depressive Symptoms and Survival Among Lung Cancer Patients: Biomarkers and Potential Benefits of an iPod Mindfulness-based Intervention,” tested the relationship between depression and survival and the role of biomarkers of stress (cortisol) and cellular aging (telomere length) as well as an innovative format for delivering mindfulness practices to a vulnerable patient population. She completed her clinical residency at the University of Washington in the Behavioral Medicine track where she was nominated by faculty to receive the Jack Carr Award in recognition of her clinical excellence. Following graduate school, she completed an NIH T32 funded postdoctoral fellowship in research at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). After fellowship, she joined the Department of Wellness and Preventive Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic where she studies stress and health to inform the development of mind and body interventions to manage stress, restore health, and prevent/improve chronic health conditions. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in both California and Ohio and is passionate about empowering people with strategies to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
